“Child Development and Professional Preschool Education.”
“That’s neat. So are you going to teach preschool?”
“No. I want to be a mom.”
“Ohh…”
That’s a pretty typical conversation for me. And it drives me nuts! YES. I want to be a mom. What’s the problem with that? Everyone expects us to have this life-changing career that will make the biggest difference known to mankind. Well guess what? In no place can you make a greater difference that within your own home. If I have 4 kids and each of them has 4 kids and so on, after 10 generations I will have influenced about 1.5 million people. Top that. President David O. McKay said “No other success can compensate for failure in the home.” Choosing to be a mom doesn’t mean I have low aspirations or am taking the easy way out – for heaven’s sake, I take trig classes for fun! What it really comes down to is how I treasure God’s plan and desire to raise His children in the best way possible. To help them become strong, intelligent, righteous people. Choosing to be a mom isn’t copping out. It’s stepping up.
